Ambassador Du Xiaohui Met with Jacob Mwiimbu, Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security

On August 31, Ambassador Du Xiaohui met with Jacob Mwiimbu, Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security of Zambia, to exchange views on enhancing protection for Chinese investments and Chinese nationals and facilitating people-to-people exchanges.

Ambassador Du said that the successful phone call between President Xi Jinping and President Hakainde Hichilema earlier this year is a milestone for the China-Zambia relations, which directs and promotes all-weather friendship to flourish with continuity. The Chinese side is willing to work closely with the Ministry to promote China-Zambia practical cooperation by enhancing protection for Chinese nationals and Chinese investments, and working out measures facilitating people-to-people exchanges.

Minister Jacob Mwiimbu said that, Zambia and China have shared a long and steady relationship since Zambia’s independence. He thanked the long lasting support provided by China to Zambia in infrastructure and capacity building among others. Zambia side attaches high importance to concerns raised by Chinese side, and has been aware of challenges met by Chinese investments and inconveniences encountered by Chinese nationals especially in light of Covid-19. Zambian side is always ready to cooperate with the Embassy and Chinese community, and is willing to attracts more Chinese investments and Chinese tourists by sparing no efforts to curb criminal activities and taking every possible action to streamline visa and permit policies.
