On 22 September 2023, Ambassador Du Xiaohui held a media briefing at the Chinese Embassy on H.E. President Hakainde Hichilema’s recent state visit to China. ZANIS, ZNBC, Times of Zambia, The Mast, News Diggers, Zambia 24, Millennium TV and other medias in Zambia participated.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Du said that, at the invitation of H.E. President Xi Jinping, President Hichilema paid a very successful state visit to China from 10 to 16 September 2023. The visit features such characteristics as long conversations between the two Presidents, unprecedented size of the Zambian delegation, the large number of locations the President visited and fruitful outcomes the visit achieved. It was a trip of FUTURE, that is, Friendship Upgraded with Trust, Unity, Real results and Economic diplomacy and served the purposes of deepening traditional friendship, strengthening political mutual trust and promoting economic cooperation. China will continue to be Zambia’s most reliable partner on its paths to development. Based on mutual respect, equality and common development, China will together build a comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership with Zambia, so that the all-weather friendship between China and Zambia will continue to shine in the new era and benefit the two peoples.

Later on, Ambassador Du answered questions on China-Zambia comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership, practical cooperation, revitalisation of TAZARA, Zambia’s debt restructuring.
