On 26 September, the Chinese Embassy in Zambia held a grand reception to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Around 700 guests attended the event, including Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry of Zambia Chipoka Mulenga, among other ministers, guests from all walks of life, diplomatic envoys from various countries to Zambia, representatives of international organizations, as well as representatives of Chinese businesses and institutions, overseas students and overseas Chinese community.

Ambassador Du Xiaohui said in his speech that the Chinese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, have worked tirelessly to usher in a bright future for the revival of the Chinese nation. At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, President Hichilema paid a successful state visit to China. China is ready to work with Zambia to build a community with a shared future for mankind and strive for more cooperation results under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Minister Mulenga warmly congratulated China on its 74th National Day and said that Zambia-China friendship has a long history and economic and trade cooperation is booming. The Zambian side stands ready to take President Hichilema’s visit to China as a new starting point to jointly promote the comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership with China.

The reception was convened in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Guests commended China for its development achievements and global contribution, and wished China-Zambia relations further growth.
