On 16 November 2023, Ambassador Du Xiaohui met with Etambuyu Gunderson, the newly-appointed Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Zambia. 

Ambassador Du congratulated Permanent Secretary Gunderson on her appointment. He said that President Hakainde Hichilema’s recent State Visit to China was a historic success, and the two Heads of State announced the establishment of a comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership between China and Zambia. Ambassador Du said that China is ready to work with Zambia to implement the important consensus reached by the two Heads of State and further deepen political mutual trust and practical cooperation between the two countries.

Permanent Secretary Gunderson thanked China for facilitating President Hichilema’s successful State Visit to China. She reiterated Zambia’s adherence to the one-China policy and said that Zambia cherishes its traditional friendship with China and is grateful for China’s long-standing support for the national development of Zambia. She further expressed her readiness to work with the Chinese side to enhance communication, coordination and collaboration in various fields.
