On 10 January 2024, Ambassador Du Xiaohui met with Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe, Secretary General of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).

Ambassador Du said that at the Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs, President Xi Jinping elaborated on the profound connotation of the scientific system of building a community with a shared future for mankind, advocated an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, which conforms with the trend of our time and echoes the common aspirations of the majority of countries. The next meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) will be held in China this year, and the two sides should strengthen cooperation within the framework of FOCAC.

Secretary General Kapwepwe thanked China for its support and said that COMESA looks forward to cooperating with China in areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, trade and human resources training.
