On 16 January 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Republic of Zambia issued a Press Statement, reaffirming its firm adherence to the One-China Principle.

On the same day, during the meeting with Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Zambia, Ambassador Du elaborated on the current situation of China-Zambia relations and cross-Straits relations. He said that China highly appreciates Zambia’s long-standing adherence to the One-China Principle, and hopes that China and Zambia will actively implement the important consensus reached by the two Heads of State during President Hichilema’s historic State Visit to China and continue to firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns.
