Zambian Health Experts attend China-Africa Teleconference of Experts on the Prevention and Control of the COVID-19

On March 18, 2020, China and African countries held the first teleconference of experts on the prevention and control of the COVID-19. Government officials and health experts from Zambia and other 23 African countries, Deputy Director of the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and representatives of the World Health Organization in some African countries, nearly 300 people attended the meeting. Four experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the First Hospital of Peking University and Ningbo Customs introduced the trend and characteristics of the epidemic in detail, as well as the Chinese side's experience and practices, and patiently and carefully answered nearly 50 questions from the African side.

The Zambian side attaches great importance to the teleconference and gives positive comments. A total of 26 medical and health experts from the Ministry of Health, the Zambia National Public Health Institute , University Teaching Hospitals participated in the teleconference. Dr. Wu Zunyou, chief epidemiologist at the Chinese center for Disease Control and Prevention, answered a question from Zambian epidemiologist Dr. Nyambe Synyange on how the public should properly wear masks. Experts attending the meeting believed that the Chinese side's detailed introduction on epidemic prevention and control, clinical treatment and customs border inspection is very practical and of great significance for guiding Zambia to do a good job in prevention and control.
